They said that Bhat faces complaint of dalit atrocity and urged the SP to recommend to the deputy adminsitrator to dismiss Bhat from his position.

In the memorandum the petitioners said that Hariprasad Bhat has been exploiting dalit community and committing atrocities on them since the last two years. On August 20, a person identified as Anand had filed a police complaint in the town station here. Case under SC/ST atrocities act was registered there.

Even after the case was filed both the deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner have been dithering from transferring Bhat, who has been accused of dalit atrocity. "After several complaints were received against Bhat, the then deputy commisisoner, Priyanka Mary Francis had transferred Bhat and appointed Prashant Shetty as administrative officer in his place. Later, Bhat used political influence and got re-appointed as administrative officer here," the complainants said.

They said that because of political pressures, Bhat who has been committing atrocities against the dalits, has not been transferred and the officials are not transferring him. They urged the SP to recommend to the deputy commissioner to get him transferred.
