Mangaluru, Sep 10: The body of a senior citizen who had gone missing from his home was found in his well of the house on Wednesday, September 9 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Bhaskar Mallya (74), resident of Akkasaligara Keri at Mulky. The area falls under Mulky police station.

Mallya had a cloth store opposite old police station at Mulky. He had tested Covid positive last month but had recovered later. Thereafter he stayed back at home. Later, he started to suffer from depression and stopped mingling with family members. On Monday when the people in the house were away, Bhaskar went missing. The family members on their return found that Mallya was missing and after searching for him registered missing complaint at Mulky police station.

On Wednesday morning, Bhaskar Mallya's nephew (elder brother's son) went to draw water from the well and found the body of Mallya floating there. He immediately informed the police.

Mulky town panchayat member, Balachandra Kamath, Mulky police sub-inspector, Dejappa, and Asif, an altruist from Karnad, together brought the body out of the well.

Mallya is suspected to have committed suicide. On the basis of complaint filed by son Girish Mallya, the police registered a case and began investigation.
