Bengaluru, Sep 11: "It has been decided to set up a coordination committee comprising police department representatives, and officers from the Reserve Bank of India and other banks towards regulating cybercrimes in the banking system. Single window system has been decided to be brought into practice to control cybercrimes," said state home minister, Basavaraj Bommai.

He was speaking to media persons after holding a meeting jointly with Reserve Bank of India and other bank officers relating to cybercrime control. "In the entire country, Karnataka happens to be the first to initiate major initiatives to stop cybercrimes. After the digitalisation of banking operations, the number of cyber irregularities is on the rise. We have brought to the knowledge of RBI regional director and bank officers about these irregularities," he stated.

He said that banks should keep making efforts to stop cybercrimes on a daily basis and to strengthen the KYC process further. He wanted bank officers and police department to begin to take action on complaints as soon as the same is received. "Banks and customers have to keep exchanging information on a regular basis towards stopping cyber crimes," he stated.

He said that discussions were held about how banks like IMA and other cooperative banks in the state cheat the people. "Reserve Bank of India has positively responded to the need. He also said that a probe is on about the money meant to be credited to the accounts of farmers having been directed to Airtel account."
