Bengaluru, Sep 12: The state high court, on Friday September 11, stayed the summons served on senior IPS officer Pranab Mohanty, seeking his personal presence in the special court for the people's representatives here relating to the suicide case of deputy superintendent of police, MK Ganapathy.

A high court bench presided over by Justice G Narendar, which heard the petition, issued the interim order.

The bench observed that Ganapathy had alleged that higher officer Pranab Mohanty, had harassed him and stopped him from discharging his duties. It said that this allegation should be considered on the basis of merit.

The summons was issued on August 28 this year. The high court stayed this order and ordered issuance of notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation and complainants, Nehal, who is the son of the late Ganapathy, father M K Kushalappa and others.

The investigating court has also issued notice to former minister K J George and retired IPS officer MM Prasad, seeking their presence in the court on September 28.
