Karkala: Man falls from coconut tree, loses life

Karkala, Sep 15: Bhaskar Kulal (47), resident of Hatturke of Chara village, Hebri taluk, was reportedly hired by Sathish Hebbar residing near Mahishamardini temple in Chara village for agricultural work. Kulal slipped from the tree when climbing down, and fell into a nearby pond. He was brought out of the pond and administered first aid, but his life could not be saved.

The incident happened on the afternoon of Monday September 14. Bhaskar's father, Sheena Kulal, filed a complaint at Hebri police station, accusing Sathish Hebbar of negligence in asking Bhaskar to climb the tree to pluck coconuts without taking any precautionary measures. Hebri police have registered a case under section 304 A of the Indian Penal Code.
