Bengaluru: Meteorological department issues yellow alert in coastal districts

Bengaluru, Sep 15: Rain has resumed its fury after a brief lull at many parts of Karnataka. Rainfall in coastal districts of Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada are likely to be battered by torrential rainfall beginning Tuesday, September 15 till September 19. Rainfall has already intensified in Malnad districts, Kodagu, Chikkamgaluru and Shivamogga including Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for five days commencing Tuesday until September 19 indicating the possibility of very heavy rainfall. Fishermen have been warned against entering the sea during this period.

Rainfall has already been heavy in coastal and Malnad districts as a result of which low lying areas have been facing a lot of problems and rivers are in spate.
