Byndoor, Sep 15: A programme of initiating the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed ropeway project that connects Goddess Mookambika temple at Kollur to Kodachadri Hill was undertaken at Kollur temple on Tuesday, September 15.

Byndoor MLA, B M Sukumar Shetty initiated the DPR by lighting a lamp. He said that this is an ambitious project and his dream. "My dream project is being realised by MP, B Y Raghavendra. This 6.8 km long ropeway will be recognized as the longest ropeway in India. This project is being executed on the European model. With this, the number of tourists and pilgrims visiting Kollur will increase and it will pave way for the further development of the region," he explained.

Shetty said that the ropeway will in no way harm the environment and it will not affect the forest. "The ropeway will enable the visitors to enjoy excellent scenery of the Kodachadri hill. Everyone will be able to visit Kodachadri and Sarvajna Peeta," he said. He assured the jeep drivers not to worry over the adverse effect of the ropeway on their income as jeeps will be required to reach the spot from where ropeway begins. He said as the tourism develops new opportunities will open up.

Zilla panchayat member Shankar Poojary, engineer Rajesh Prasad, S B R Patil entrepreneur, Venkatesh Kini local dignitary, Dr Atul Kumar Shetty BJP Byndoor Mandal general secretary, Prakash Poojary Jeddu, Kali Chandayya Acharya and priests of Goddess Mookambika temple were present.

Byndoor Mandal BJP president Deepak Kumar Shetty welcomed and compered the programme.

The ropeway project will be undertaken under the private-public partnership basis and UPIL will partner the project. Works are expected to be executed at a faster pace, and the ropeway can be expected to become a reality soon.
