Udupi, Sep 17: A 19-year-old man lost approximately Rs 2,05,500 in online fraud.

Sujith Prabhu, resident of Belman in Karkala had received a mobile message on September 4 at 8.00 am that he has won a lottery prize of Rs 12,18,095. Subsequently, a person named Rama Prakash Patel telephoned him and made him believe that Rs 6,500 should be remitted to convert the lottery amount of USD 17,400. Following which, Sujith provided the necessary bank details.

While Sujith remitted the amount, another person identifying himself as Pankaj Singh Adhoria telephoned Sujith, gave details of various accounts and asked Sujith to deposit amounts in them.

He deposited Rs 2,05,500 through Bank of Baroda mobile app until he realized he was cheated by fraudsters. Sujith lodged a police complaint in Sen police station vide crime registration No 56/2020 under IPC section 66 (c), 66 (d) and IT Act and Section 420.

    Here teen is self responsible for his deeds...When someone calls and tells he has won lotterie and had to pay money to get it,should have used his brain .why pay money to get lottery money?That too huge amount?Lottery will pay the amount,not vice versa:How the youth had so much money at this age?Did he ever buy one ticket?so many times people warn from these fraudsters,but always someone else falls on this trick.why did he not consult his parents or relatives?Now no use of police complain.money is gone.sad.
