Mangaluru, Sep 18: A building belonging to Yuvaka Mandala, near Tilaknagar, Amblamogaru village was demolished on late Wednesday night by miscreants. A case in this regard has been also registered in Konaje police station.

Youngsters who have been part of Yuvaka Mandala have been celebrating 'Mosaru Kudike' here since the last 18 years. The organization’s building was on a government land for the past 10 years, which was objected by local people. A complaint in the matter was also submitted to the local village accountant who had asked the people to maintain the status quo.

However, the building was demolished completely last night. Considering that the incident would likely cause friction between two communities, DCP, ACP and Konaje police personnel arrived at the spot and held discussions with locals. Revenue officer and gram panchayat officers too arrived at the spot and reported the matter to the tahsildar.

MLA Khader orders for investigation

MLA UT Khader who condemned the demolition of the building said that the revenue department should sort out if there are any disputes. "The district in-charge minister should step in to solve the problem. A team at the DCP level should be formed to investigate the incident and accused should be arrested. The communal harmony should not be disrupted and must be maintained in the future too," he stressed.

BJP Mandala president appeals for peace

BJP Mandala president Chandrahas Pandit who visited the spot, spoke to locals and Yuvaka Mandala office bearers. He requested that people should not act in an impulsive manner and rather aim to maintain peace. "Government officials should act, arrest the accused and send a warning to the anti-social elements, they should also make sure such incidents do not occur again."

BJP Mangaluru mandala chief secretary Hemanth Shetty, Navin Padalpady, vice president Yashwant Amin, Ravi Sovooru, Bharath Raj Gatty, Sanjeeva Shetty Amblamogaru, Charan Raj, Sumalatha, Kishore Munnooru, Sadashiva Acharya, Purushotham Kallapu, Atul Bagambila and others were present.
