Beltangady, Nov 10: A teenager hanged himself after developing cold feet upon coming to know that his father had become aware of the fact that he had borrowed money from another person. This incident happened at Patrame Kalya in the taluk on Monday, November 9.

The boy who took this extreme step was Rishab (14) from Patrame Kalya. Reportedly, he had undertaken financial dealings with Narayan, who runs a hair salon at Nidle village. Rishab's father, Babu Shetty, somehow got wind of the dealings between Rishab and Narayan. He approached Narayan and questioned him at which Narayan is said to have informed that Rishab owed Rs 6,500 to him. He also reportedly threatened to eliminate Rishab if the money is not repaid.

Rishab came to know of this. On Monday morning, he left home, went directly to the plantation and hanged himself from a tree there. He was found hanging from the tree later. Babu Shetty, in a complaint filed in Dharmasthala plolcie station, said that his son committed suicide because of threat posed by Narayan.
