Mangalore, Jun 25:
“Go green to protect environment and prevent global warming”, said Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore while inaugurating the diocesan dream project of planting 2 lac saplings and nurturing them.

Earlier, he spoke on the harmful effects of global warming resulting in climate change, at the Diocesan Pastoral Council meeting held at Bishop’s House here on Thursday June 25.

The rising levels of global warming adversely affect life – human beings, flora and fauna.  The reasons for this catastrophe are manifold.  Among them are the excess use of nature and unnecessary tampering with nature by human beings due to greed.  If the trend continues our life on this Earth is endangered.  Therefore, it is important for each one of us to give a thought to this major problem.

Hence, the Mangalore Diocese has taken up the issue and has decided to plant 2 lac trees in and around the city  during this rainy season.  In this regard the Bishop also gave a call to every family in Mangalore to plant at least five fruit bearing trees by the end of this year’s monsoon and thus help save nature and protect our environment. He planted a sapling within the premises he of Bishop’s House on the occasion. .

Dear Reverend Bishop, before telling every Catholic Family to plant 5 fruit trees,it will be better if you tell the Priests and Nuns. How many trees did you cut to build that St.Joseph Engineering College. Now you have found that Earth is Endagered. You are rounding up Cattle after fence is opened. Global warming is partly caused by construction of money minting schools, Colleges and Party Auditoriums, by eleiminating beutiful green trees. How many trees were cut to build Lourdes school in Bejai and also those massive buildings of St.Aloysius University eliminated all the green in Light House Hill.
How many trees are gone from Bishop House Property for the Commercial Complex.
It is do what I say and not what I do. It is little too late and by the time your sapplings grow to cool the earth,Mankind will be gone.
Gregory Patrao lost His Oxygen generating green land and He is on hunger strike. He is your Sheep and you have visited Him after seven days. This is after every other religious head visited Him. Earth lovers should have been the first to raise the VOICE to save Food and Oxygen providing green land.
I think someone needs some attention, and Earth is the poster child for the cause.
