Bantwal, Jun 29: The local Junior Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Madhava Koodlu, presently working as the crime department sub-inspector (SI) at Suratkal police station, relating to neglecting the summons issued by the local court when he was working in the town.

Koodlu has already moved an application for anticipatory bail in the district court, hearing of which has been adjourned. Suresh Poojary, advocate from B C Road, said that he will be filing objections personally against this application.

Allegedly, Koodlu, along with some police personnel, had illegally entered the office of advocate Suresh Poojary in B C Road and arrested a person named Thomas Monteiro from Bolangady, who was an accused in a land dispute case. Suresh Poojary had filed personal complaint in the court, and summons was thereafter issued to the sub-inspector and other constables.

Koodlu is accused of not appearing before the court even after eight summonses were served on him. He also faces the allegation of compromising with the dignity of the court by filing false information. The court, while issuing the warrant, noted that his behaviour was against the rules governing the service conditions of the public servants.

In the meanwhile, Thomas Monteiro has complained to the Lokayukta that he was offered an enticement in the case. Suresh Poojary has also complained to the State Human Rights Commission against Koodlu, alleging that the latter had infringed upon the human and civil rights in illegally confining Thomas Monteiro and torturing him.
