Mangalore, Jun 30:
The clearing of the debris left after the crash of the Air India Express flight last month, began on Tuesday June 29.  The cleaning operation being conducted by Fiza Group, Kuloor, used the help of cranes on Wednesday June 30.

A S Balakrishna Naidu, chief engineer, Fiza Group, said that the process may take about 12 days and they may need an extra crane for the clearing process as large parts like the wings and tail pieces of the body need to be carried away.

The district administration had written to the directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) to clear the debris immediately after the crash. They waited for the enquiry team to arrive before the clearing was done.

N J Rao, senior official, safety department, Air India, along with other engineers are supervising the job. Workers are provided with gloves, shoes, masks and helmets as a precautionary measure for clearing the debris.

Many valuable things including some documents of the victims are in the process of being cleared which will be helpful in further investigation, which is still on.

Simply commenting over here would not get your words to the concerned authorities. Please mail in mass to dassec.dgca@nic.in (Air Safety Wing of DGCA). Ask them why the rules were flouted? Is there no safety standards in their rule books. Question them till they reply. This is a democracy and we should receive answers from these authorities.

First off, we have got to get rid off these filthy politicians only then will India become a developed nation. Sadly Air India has got to suffer after the crash , the real culprits ie politicians have just passed the buck! I really feel bad about the crash and may the souls of the 158 passengers rest in peace.

@shabeer Ali, Bajpe,Dubai, well I dont agree with the comments about the blackbox bellow. Because testing of Blackbox will taakes from 30 days to 45 days as they have to monitor thousands of smaller recordiongs in controlled environment, AI is not hiding anything as international media is watching them. You can check the history of recent crashes like Tripoly crash the details of Blackbox is not clear yet. And about the investigation it will take yeards to do, so i dont think we all remember the issue ans it will not be this hot news when the clear picture of the investigation comes out. Please be calm and let them do thire job. I hope you agree with me.

S Moorthy-Dubai you are right. No more the issue is in public glare. No lessons are learnt. Public interest in India is short lived. Our political class love every bit of this. It serves them well. So is the media. To add to your comments, the aftermath of the tragedy and the fiasco in dealing with disaster by the administration left us all shell shocked. 33 claimants did not get their loved ones and 12 bodies remained un-identified even under circumstances when the identity of each of the victims was well known as per the list of passengers in that fatal flight. Worse still the 12 bodies were burried un-ceremoniously without a proper coffin.

Clearing the debris is OK. But where is the report, enquiries done, black box, voice recorder & flight data recorder recovered. But where is the report. What is the fact, we want to know as citizen of India. AI & DGCA should disclose this. We will not keep quiet to become another forgotten incident. All our media should take up this issue. I hope all mangaloreans join hands with my concern.

The incident still brings tears in my eyes. Nothing will be done nor our government, corrupt officials will do anything. This was a mere joke to them. What happened to the investigation? whose fault it was? what led to the crash? where is the black box? India talks about its achievement, greatness, development ,but has to send the black box to US to retrieve the information..? this is all politically driven..The result will never be here, just 150 poor lives are dead that's it. May the almighty grant them eternal rest.

Let the tragedy and lives of those passed away be not forgotten. A memorial may at the same place or some other place woud befitting enough tribute. Involve some artist so that they can make a monumnet in the same wreckage of the aircraft. monument simply reminds us that let the tragedy may not happen again anywhere in the world. Can the concerned address this and we will put togather the artists and make monument before wreckage becomes a mere scrap. This to some extent will assuage the feelings of bereaved.

Unquote: This shows how poor developing nation is ours!! People talking about taking 20- 25 years to complete the court formalities where as a simple clearing process takes 2-3 months and still hunting for evidences!! Wish they don’t come across any dead victims! It would be the worst during the monsoon! Embarrassing news sad though. There is a real fundamental problem in Indian governance! I don’t know!
