Bangalore, Jul 5: ‘Run4Unity 2010’ was organized by Focolare at St Francis Xavier School ground in Frazer Town here recently.  There was an enthusiastic response to the event, as over 350 people took part in it, in excess of the expectations of the organizers.

The young team of Focolare kicked off the programme with a heart-catching song followed by a short presentation on the goals of ‘Run4Unity’ – ‘to build peace and fraternity through sports and games, where our way of playing is inspired by the Golden Rule (Do Unto Others As You Would Them Do Unto You)’. This year’s theme is ‘to give with joy’.

Thereafter, the people present participated in the mini marathon around the school block. Following the conclusion of this event, tournaments and tele-games were conducted.

Guests of honour for the programme were Alan Nazareth, founder of Sarvodaya Trust, and former ambassador of India, and his wife, Isabel.

Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners. The main aim of the event was to give a call to everyone to perform for a much greater aim, and to live for unity and universal brotherhood. The coaches, volunteers of Youth for a United World, YMCA referees, youngsters and everyone else who were present there, left with a feeling of enrichment and happiness, having assimilated the message ‘to give with joy’. The day is sure to linger in the minds of the participants for long.
