Bangalore, Jul 6: Veteran BJP leader, D H Shankara Murthy was elected as the 24th chairman of Karnataka legislative council on Monday July 5.

Deputy chairman of the council, Puttanna, moved a proposal for the election to the post of the chairman. Leader of the house and home minister, Dr V S Acharya, proposed the name of Shankara Murthy to the post. This was seconded by chief whip of the government, Dr A H Shivayogiswamy.

After the proposal was put to voice vote, deputy chairman, Puttanna, announced that Shankara Murthy has been elected as the council chairman, unanimously.
