Bantwal: Student Suffers Cardiac Arrest in Class

Bantwal, Jul 10: Nishmita (11), daughter of Sundara and Gouri from Serkala, a fifth standard student of Serkala government higher primary school  in Kolnad village in the taluk, collapsed in the school and died on Friday July 9 morning.

She had collapsed during her visit to the toilet of the school. Another student, who saw Nishmita’s condition, told the teachers, who took her to a private hospital in Kalladka. However, she breathed her last before reaching the hospital, and could not be revived.

It is learnt that the girl suffered from heart-related complications since her birth, and had undergone surgery to rectify the problem. She also was advised to get an injection once in three weeks. She needed further operation to correct the problem, but the family was short of funds, and its efforts to get facility from the government had not yielded results.

She is survived by parents, two brothers and three sisters.
