Kasargod, Jul 10: The security personnel of the state are a worried lot over the recovery of huge quantity of explosives on the eve of the visit of the country’s Vice President, Mohammed Hamid Ansari, to the state.

Detonators and fuse wires had been recovered from Maveli Express train on Thursday from Mavelikkara in Alapuzha district. On Friday, the policemen seized about 300 detonators and fuse wires from a bus. They said the explosives were packed in three bags and placed in a bus that was moving between Kozhikode and Payyanur. As soon as the bus reached Edakkad town, the bus conductor found the abandoned bags without claimants, and informed the policemen. The Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the spot and defused the explosives.

Normally, these types of detonators and fuse wires are used in granite quarries.
