Bangalore: HC Reprieve to Tainted Former Minister, Halappa

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jul 10: Former minister, Hartalu Halappa, has got some reprieve from the High Court, in the form of relaxation in his bail conditions. It may be recalled that Halappa had lost his position as a state minister after a Shimoga-based woman charged him with rape.

At the time Halappa was granted bail, he was asked to present himself at Shimoga police station once every 15 days and sign the attendance register there. He was also ordered not to leave Shimoga under any circumstances.

After considering the petition moved by the former minister, requesting for the relaxation of conditions of his bail, the bench headed by Justice Subhash B Adi gave him freedom to move around his constituency without any restrictions, and mark his attendance at the central office of the criminal intelligence department once a month instead of Shimoga police station.
