'I will Resign, if I Fail to Curb Illegal Mining'

'I will Resign, if  I Fail to Curb Illegal Mining'

Bangalore, Jul 13 (DHNS): Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has come out with a list of names of the Congress and the JD(S) members allegedly involved in illegal mining.

He also told the Legislative Council that he would resign as the Chief Minister if he failed to curb illegal mining in the State. The Chief Minister, in his reply to the debate on illegal mining in the Council on Monday, said many leaders including KPCC president R V Deshpande were involved in illegal mining in the State. Yeddyurappa said his government has records to show that JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy sanctioned mining in 2,300 ha in the State a few days before vacating the chair.

He said former MPs R L Jalappa, Manjunath Kunnur, Rajya Sabha member Anil Lad (all Congress), MLA C B Suresh Babu, MLA M T Krishnappa’s son K Raju, MLA S R Srinivas’ wife Bharatidevi are all involved in illegal mining in the State. He said: “I will prove that they are all into illegal mining. That is the reason why you are hesitating to join the delegation to the Prime Minister to ban the export of mineral.”

He said the State Government is unable to prevent illegal mining in the State due to certain policies of the Union government. “People in Bellary do not belong to one party. Despite knowing the fact, the previous governments did not do much to prevent this. We must put an end to this now,” he said. He said, “If I fail to stop this, I am ready to go to people to seek fresh mandate,” he said.

Pointing out that the officials are unable to prevent the movement of vehicles carrying mineral, he said the mining companies are moving to courts to get their vehicles released.

“I will entrust the matter to Lokayukta,” he said. Referring to a media report in which former Prime Minister had termed CBI a chor bachao institute, Yeddyurappa refused to order a CBI probe into illegal mining. He wanted the Opposition parties to give their consent to pass one-line resolution pressing the Centre to ban export of the natural resources.

Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy suggested that there should be a ban on export of mineral wealth. “Let there be a ban from tomorrow, let’s go and meet the Prime Minister and appeal him to do so,” he said. The Council was adjourned when some of the members objected to the Chief Minister’s allegations. Raising a hue and cry, the members demanded that the government must agree to the CBI probe.

Deadlock continues

The entire Opposition in the Legislative Assembly stuck to its stand seeking action against the Bellary ministers - Janadharana and Karunakara Reddy - besides three other BJP legislators for their unruly behaviour in the Lower House. No proceedings could be conducted in the day with the Opposition members staging a dharna in the well of the House.

The Congress insisted that Speaker K G Bopaiah forward their complaint regarding criminal intimidation against the BJP members to the police.

The Opposition leaders had decided not to attend meeting of floor leaders and chief whips convened by the Speaker to discuss and resolve the impasse. Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy admitted that he had lost his cool but blamed Congress member Dinesh Gundurao for provoking him. At these comments, pandemonium broke out again.

Jayakrishna, Mangalore, Only honest politicians in india are two "vidhvans" of undivided DK, Dr Oscarji and Dr Moilyji.... If elections are held now, take my word, Congress will close shop in DK/Udupi, and in Karnataka it will get less than 25 seats, and Siddu will not even officially recogonised as Leader Of Opposition( in the unlikely event of he winning...). You should ask your "Kumpar" Dr Oscarji to contest election from Udupi

Instead of digging the past, please stop the present illegal activities Yeddy. Do not say you will resign. You are forced to resign now. You have fooled Kannadigas by joining outsiders & have betrayed our trust in you as our CM. Yeddy, by shouting on top of voice, a criminal cannot prove his innocence. The best thing is hand over the case to CBI & prove that you are innocent. But, you will never do that because if you do that you know the result.

CM Yediyurappa has the distinction of "double talk".Till today, he has not practised what he has preached. I was under the impression that BJP rule in Karnataka will turn out to be historic. But it has turned out to be hysterical. Mr. Yediyurappa, you have fooled the people of Karnataka enough number of times. You don't have the courage to resign and seek re-election. You have failed to live upto the expectation of the people. Please stop bluffing. The people are not idiots.

Mr. Yedyurappa, nobody believes your words. You say one thing and does the very opposite. You have given the figures of illegal mining yourself and it shows that you failed to stop illegal mining. So resign immediately. You are one of the weakest chief minister Karnataka ever had.

BJP people think that they can fool the people by diverting subjects and people are frustrated with these tactics.

All readers do not convinently ignore Janardana Reddy's comments “Let there be a ban from tomorrow, let’s go and meet the Prime Minister and appeal him to do so,”. Hidden truth is Congress and JDS are bigger loosers by banninig of mining than Reddy's. Reddy's and Yeddiyurappa are very well aware of that and that is why Yeddiyurappa requested for ban. Also I would like to requote the statement " former Prime Minister had termed CBI a chor bachao institute"-unquote which we public are also aware. We should not be fooled by the fact that these politicians are only trying to cover themselves and not intrested in banning illigal activities because that is their business.

It is now clear that Iron ore mafia was groomed and flourished during the Congress & JDS rule. In Yeddiyurappa’s statement it is also clear that Ex-CM Kumara Swami hurriedly approved 2300 Hectare area for the mining before vacating the chair!!!!.

Illegal iron ore mining activity started at the time when BJP was not a major political power in the state. Reddy's may be only a part of larger Mine Mafia. Taking action against only one section of Mine mafia is not enough. The political leaders who were responsible for creating these smugglers and direct or indirect partners in illegal mining activity must also be punished.

Unfortunately any move in that direction will be opposed unanimously by the ruling and opposition party thugs due to their unpublished and hidden involvement. By asking for CBI inquiry these politicians are diverting public attention from their illegal involvement in mining. Once the case is transferred to CBI we public tend  to forget  the case and our politicians are well aware of public nature and they exploit it.

How is it that a chief minister of a state who has powers to suspend and shunt officers all over the place cannot curb Illegal mining. By pointing fingers at congress the problem is not solved. All the people who are involved be it BJP/Congress/JD or independent should be exposed and booked.

A politician is a statesman who approaches every question with an open mouth. He should not hide anything from the general public. If it is so, we have to rethink and can't wait for him to continue for 5 years. Some of the politicians developed politics as an art of governing people by deceiving them. Since a politician never believes what he says, he is surprised when others believe him.
