Mangalore, Jul 13: Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary held a press meet at the Press Club here on Tuesday July 13.

He said that the CBI should take charge of the investigation into illegal mining and the ministers from both the ruling and opposition party be punished as per the law thus cleansing the whole political system.

Poojary said legal mining is not opposed by Lokayukta or Governor or press, and questioned as to why chief minister B S Yeddurappa was scared to request the central government to order a CBI probe into the matter.

“The CM, instead of supporting the case by supporting an investigation, is turning the case up side down by saying that it won’t happen in future. This means he is making Rs 25, 000 crore from mines which is around one crore five and a half lakh metric tones of iron ore illegally sold. So, he doesn’t want that to come out”, added Poojary.

He also said that Janardhan Reddy had become the CM as he was controlling Yeddyurappa who did not have the guts to stop the Reddys’ illegal activities.

“Yeddyurappa is ready to do anything for his seat. He won’t get down from his seat as he promised if he fails in his duty and he has failed”, said Poojary.

Arun Kohelo, Kallige Taranath Shetty, Harikrishna Bantwal, and Suresh Ballal were the other Congress leaders present at the press meet.
