Mangalore, Jul 14: The Court of Inquiry (COI) formed to go into the crash of the Air India Express flight from Dubai at the local airport on May 22 this year, will submit its report containing details of the crash including reasons for it, by August 31 this year. This was stated by Air Marshal (retd), B N Gokhale, who heads the COI, when reporters met him at the airport here on Tuesday July 13.

“During the last two days, we have conducted the second round of investigation. We have collected information from the district administration, relatives of the passengers who died in the tragedy, employees of the airport, fire brigade, policemen etc.,” he explained.

He admitted that the COI had provided information to the director general of civil aviation earlier, about the crash. “That was not preliminary report as mentioned in some media. It is true that a sketch enclosed to the information had wrongly spotted the site of the crash.  This blunder has since been corrected,” he claimed.

Gokhale revealed that the black box of the doomed aircraft had been decoded at United States of America, but refused to divulge details. “Every aspect will be covered in our final report,” he added.
