Mangalore, Jul 15: Catholic Sabha Manglur Pradesh has urged the state government to implement all the recommendations made by Justice Somashekhara Commission of Inquiry that had probed church attacks in the state. In accordance with the recommendations, it has demanded for the withdrawal of the cases registered against Christians relating to the incidents of attacks on churches.

A delegation led by Sushil Noronha, convener of the political awareness unit of Catholic Sabha Kulshekhar unit, met in-charge deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, S A Prabhakar Sharma, and handed over to him a memorandum containing the above demand, addressed to the state Chief Minister, home minister, and district in-charge minister. President of the unit, Marriott Pinto, secretary, Pauline D’Souza, Henry D’Souza, Alban Pinto, Celestine Crasta, Leo Mascarenhas and church parish council vice president, Victor Vas, were the members of the delegation.

The memorandum points out that a number of of innocent Christians have been booked under various cases, relating to the incidents of attacks on churches, which occurred on September 14 and 15, 2008. “Although requests were made to the government repeatedly to withdraw these cases in the past, nothing has been done even after the lapse of several months, although the commission of inquiry into the incidents had also recommended for the same,” the memorandum points out.

Nagesh Nayak, keep the religion of the people aside. Those who trespassed and caused damage to property, in this case the churches are CRIMINALS.

Those who went to protect the churches from being damaged, even though they might have inflicted injuries to the attackers are INNOCENT. This is not my law, but the accepted priciple of justice all over the civilised world.

It would be a great day for all, if, you, as fair person and lover of justice, would also, whole heartedly, support the implementations of all the recommendations made by Justice Somashekhara.

    Dear Mr. Nagesh:
Christians are booked for no reason and they are very innocent, but as you say are Hindus criminals? Definitely not but the one who were booked by the Police are definitely criminilals. Christians do not interfere with others affairs, but Bhajrang, Pramod Mutalik, few others are heartless criminals.

It is Chritians who brought education, hospitals, home for the aged and destitutes, children homes, and discipline etc. to India. I have great respect for Hindus because most of my good friends are Hindus and I am a congressman for over 50 years but still I have great respect for Dr. V. S. Acharya and I respect him as my old friend and the first Home Minister of Karnataka from Udupi.

I vote for Congress but I respect any government in power. So please do not make any false comments on Christians. Stand for the truth and justice like Mr. Santhosh Hegde. Take the examples of good people and you will shine. May the Lord bless you.

No Nagesh Nayak, No ! Those who stood behind the police (and got the women praying in the churches hit) are saints - how dare yo0u call them criminals ? We need to name a 'Katte' after each of them to commemorate their hero'ism. Criminals indeed are those who peacefully protested i.e. about who this news is.

Good work Catholic Sabha. Our youth need clearance from the allegation. Else, they will be harassed for life time when applying for any permit/license. They have suffered enough already let us support this cause.
