Mangalore: Stolen Belongings Retrieved by Police Returned to Owners

Mangalore, Aug 7: A property-return parade was organized by the district police at the premises of Superintendent of Police’s office premises on Saturday, July 7.

SP Dr A S Subramanyeshwar Rao informed media persons that the police have retrieved property worth Rs 32,89,267 from April to June and property worth Rs 24,14,042 have been handed over to the owners during the parade.   “75 percent of the property has been returned to the owners and the rest will be returned to the respective owners on receipt of the court order”, he said.

Briefing on the district’s crime statistics, Rao said in 2010, property worth Rs 167,37,000 has been stolen from people out of which property worth Rs 37 lac has been recovered by police. The year 2010 witnessed six robbery cases and one dacoit case. Cases of burglary have been reduced to great extent with just 37 cases being reported, he added.

Rao also revealed that the police department has started Civilian Rifle Training for the people of Puttur, in which 48 civilians have taken part. A group of 30 civilians participated in the training held in Bantwal to build better understanding between civilians and the police department.

Police constables will receive Refresher Training in the city and every police officer will have to compulsorily attend it, said Rao.

    Great job by our Police Department. I am very happy about it. I hope they will do their Job with great morality. I remember one incident that - Robbers took my Jewellary and Police took which was left in my Neck. Which I am totally robed by Robber and Police of Karkala station of Dakshina Kannada. Mr Hossur Please note it what is happening in our Dakshina Kannada.

    A FANTASTIC TASK BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WHICH DESERVES THE TOP APPRECIATION.WE SALUTE SUCH ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITIES.THE POLICE MAY HAVE EXTRA CARE WHILE ING THE CIVILIANS FOR RIFLE TRAINING.THE ANTI-SOCIAL ELEMENTS OF THE COMMUNITIES SHOULD NOT NOT BE INCLUDED IN SUCH TRAININGS.

    It is indeed good to see this dynamic doctor turned into a police officer doing such a great job in the Port city of Mangalore. Dr. A.S. Rao has indeed contributed a lot to restore and render justice to all irrespective of case and creed. Any one with a legitimate problem is given a patient hearing by Dr. Rao.
