Shimoga, Aug 30: In a car accident that occurred on Sunday August 29, two foreign nationals, who were returning after visiting Jog Falls, lost their lives. The accident occurred near Seetkatte Bridge near Jog Falls in Sagar taluk in the district.

The deceased have been identified as Pants Bernard (60), a German national, who was driving Mahindra Bolero SUV and Maxine Zeripsky (70), a lady from USA. The two were returning to Panaji after enjoying the scenic beauty of the world-renowned falls, when their vehicle hit the signboard of Jog Development Authority at the dangerous bend near the said bridge.

Pants died on the spot. The woman breathed her last while being taken to a hospital in Sagar. The valuables and documents belonging to the tourists were recovered by the policemen from the vehicle. A case was registered in Siddapur police station.
