Mangalore Sep 3: A unique event, ‘Grand Parents’ Day’ was celebrated by the kindergarten section of Lourdes Central School on Saturday September 3.
Principal of Lourdes Central School Grace Noronha introduced the guests and welcomed the gathering. Welcome song was sung by the school teachers on the occasion for which Sheeba Samuel directed the music.
Presiding over the function, manager of Lourdes Central School Fr Victor Machado said that grand parents are the great source of inspiration as the younger generation can learn values for life from them. He lauded the school teachers and students for organizing such a programme in respect of the elderly.
General manager, Syndicate Bank K G Shenoy was the chief guest. He too appreciated the school’s initiative to organize such a programme and said that it is a great way to teach students to respect their grand parents.
KG 2 students performed a dance which was choreographed by Mahesh and action song was performed by K G 2 and K G 1 students which won the hearts of audience. Some of the grand parents were honoured on the occasion. An old lady sang a song ‘Old black Joe’ which was enjoyed by the little students. Wife of K G Shenoy Tara Shenoy was also present on the occasion.
Convenor of the programme Lydia D’Souza with other teaching staff including Grace Roche, Lolita Mascarenhas, Lynette Pereira, Jasmine D’Souza, Matilda Pinto, and Prema Menezes were the people responsible for the success of the programme.
