Spielberg to Direct 'Robopocalypse'

Los Angeles, Oct 24 (IANS) Filmmaker Steven Spielberg is set to helm the big screen adaptation of writer Daniel H. Wilson's novel "Robopocalypse".

The book explores the fate of the human race following a robot uprising. Disney will distribute the futuristic drama through its Touchstone label in 2013.

"'Robopocalypse' embodies an imaginative story of a robot rebellion unleashed against the human race," variety.com quoted DreamWorks co-president of production Mark Sourian as saying.

"This is a project we immediately sparked to and with Steven directing it we knew it was in the best possible hands to bring it to worldwide audiences," Sourian added.

DreamWorks acquired feature rights to Wilson's unpublished manuscript in November. The shooting of the film will begin in January, 2012.
