Bantwal, Oct 30: After dusk on Friday October 29, a Scorpio vehicle hit an electric pole located at Talapady near B C Road on national highway. The vehicle then fell on its side, injuring all its six passengers.

Out of them, five were admitted to a private hospital in Tumbe. As one of them had suffered fracture of the hand, he was shifted to a private hospital in Mangalore. The injured have been identified as Nafisa (40) and Ayesha (17) from Suratkal, Ummatumma (50) and Asmath (27)  from Vamanjoor, apart from Mumtaz (30) from Sarapady. Naushad (28) from Vamanjoor suffered fracture.

All of them were close relatives. The incumbents of the vehicle were returning after taking part in a marriage programme at Punjalakatte. The driver of the vehicle, who escaped unhurt, claimed that he lost control over the vehicle, after one of the tyres of the vehicle burst all of a sudden.
