Bangalore, Oct 30: The state government, as per its order dated August 13, 2003, had brought into force a scheme of announcing awards/incentives to the employees working for the state government annually. These awards/incentives were given both at the state level and district level, to those employees who show exemplary talent or register excellent performance.

In normal course, these awards were being given on Kannada Rajyotsava Day, November 1 every year. The deputy commissioners were vested with powers to choose district level officials and hand over awards.

Through a letter dated October 26, 2010, under secretary in the department of personnel and administrative reforms in the state government, has instructed all the district deputy commissioners to temporarily withhold all proposals of giving away awards/incentives to any of the officials under the said scheme, as the government is considering a proposal to withdraw the above scheme. He has said that this order will be in force till the government issues further instructions on the subject.
