Udupi: Majoor GP Gets New Crematorium

Udupi, Oct 31: “The crematorium is not a dreaded place; it is as sacred as a temple. A crematorium has been a necessity in the neighbourhood of Heroor – Bantakal, and this has turned into reality with the efforts of the committee that was formed for this purpose,” said Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon.

He was speaking after inaugurating the crematorium that has been constructed at a cost of Rs 6.5 lac for the benefit of residents of Heroor - Bantakal, near Shirva, in Majoor gram panchayat here on Sunday October 31.

Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) senior internal auditor Ganesh Bhat, Heroor Abbettuguttu Dr N S Shetty, taluk panchayat member Arun Shetty Padoor, SKDRDP local animator Prashant, Bantakal Ganeshotsav committee president Madhav Kamat, Guru Raghavendra Swamy Samaj Seva Sangh president Raghavendra, Kalattoor gram panchayat president Nithyanand Shetty, Innanje gram panchayat president Vasanti V Acharya, and committee honorary president Devdas Jogi were the chief guests on the occasion.

Sri Kshetra Bantakal Durgaparameshwari temple priest Vedavyasaraya Bhat, Shirva’s veteran medical practitioner Dr K R Venkatakrishna, Shirva Ganeshotsav committee president K Sundar Prabhu, and Kamalaksha Shenoy were present on the dais.

Mendon felicitated contractor Ganesh Shetty on the occasion.

Majoor gram panchayat president and committee president Ganesh Shetty welcomed the gathering. Secretary K Ramaraya Patkar delivered the introductory address. Dinesh Devadiga proposed the vote of thanks and B Pundalika Marate compered the programme.
