Bangalore, Nov 2:  “We must consider it a spiritual privilege to have so many saints praying for us and leaving for us a model to follow in them” Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras told Catholics at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Jalahalli in Bangalore while celebrating All Saints Day mass.  While offering special prayers for Karnataka on Rajyotsava day, he said “On this day of twin celebrations, we must consider it our duty to pray for the State and for the development of people in this State.  We must share the responsibility of looking to the needs of others and pray for each other fervently”

Shortly after the Holy Mass, the Archbishop hoisted the flag to mark the inauguration of the Day’s Rajyotsava programme and participated in the felicitation and cultural events that followed.  Rector of St. Marys Basilica, Fr. Arulappa who was present for the programme was among those felicitated by the Archbishop. At the programme, organised by the Akila Karnataka Catholic Christians Kannada Sangha, the Archbishop Moras pointed out “As Christians, we must consider it our responsibility to contribute to the State, especially in the development of people.  There are so many who are poor, some without homes and some without jobs. Progress of the State will happen when we all work together to eliminate poverty”.  In a video byte to Suvarna TV at the venue, The Archbishop greeted the people of Karnataka and expressed his wish that people of all Faiths work together for the progress of the State of Karnataka.

The Akila Karnataka Catholic Christians Kannada Sangha this year introduced awards for High School toppers. The Archbishop gave away the trophies and cash prizes.
