Mangalore: National Seminar of Akashvani-Doordarshan Employees in City

Mangalore, Nov 3: National Federation of Akashvani (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD) Employees (NFADE) will be organizing a national seminar on ‘Akashvani: Then and Now’ at SDM Business Management
College here on Thursday November 4.

On the occasion, a commemorative issue titled, ‘Banuliya Belaku’, is also set to be released. The aim
of the seminar is to identify the giant strides made by Akashvani during its 83 years of existence in various fields and spheres, and streamlining its new role in the changed circumstances. This was
stated at a press conference held here on Monday November 1.

The programme is set to be inaugurated by Dharmasthala dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, at 10 am. Noted journalist and former chairman of Prasar Bharati, M V Kamath, will preside. Rajyasabha member, Oscar Fernandes, will release the commemorative issue. Udupi-Chikmagalur MP,
D V Sadanand Gowda, Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Canara MP, Ananthkumar Hegde, Kasargod MP, P Karunakaran, and Bangalore South MP, H N Ananth Kumar, will participate as chief guests of the programme.

The first seminar, to be held from 11 am to 1 pm, will be presided over by retired deputy director general of AIR and DD, N G Shreenivas. A S Chandramouli, assistant director, Bangalore Doordarshan Kendra,
and retired director of Akashvani Bangalore, H V Ramachandra Rao, will talk on different subjects.

The second seminar, being held in coordination with Karnataka Media Academy, Bangalore, will be held between 2 pm and 4 pm. Karnataka Media Academy president, D P Parameshwar, will preside. Khadri S
Achchuthan, assistant news editor (retired) of Akashvani, and senior journalist from Bangalore, Ishwara Daithota, will speak on different topics. A number of distinguished personalities will grace these
programmes.

The valedictory function will be held at 4.30 pm. Introductory address will be delivered by NFADE’s local unit coordinator, Chandrashekhar M. Anilkumar S, NFADE, New Delhi, will preside. Various distinguished
guests from Akashvani and Prasar Bharati will take part in the function.

Dr Vasantkumar Perla, programme coordinator, AIR, Karwar, Florine Roche, Sadanand Perla, Muddu Moodubelle and NFADE Mangalore unit coordinator, Chandrasekhar M, were present at the press conference.
