M'lore: Demolition of Illegal Religious Structures - DC Urges Public to Cooperate

Mangalore, Nov 3: Deputy commissioner (DC) Subhodh Yadav has sought the cooperation of public to execute the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the demolition of illegal religious structures, calling it a pro-people order.

At a meeting held in DC’s office on Wednesday November 3, he requested the revenue officers to make people aware of the benefits of the move.
 
He detailed the methods of the demolition works to be carried out and said that public ought to be made aware with comprehensive information so that the development works will not suffer setbacks.

He informed that the demolition works will be carried out in all the taluks, as per the order of the Supreme Court. He also urged the authorities concerned to hold meetings with religious leaders prior to taking any action in this regard.

    Shri Yeddiyurappa promised us to transform Karnataka in the model of Gujarat. Mr. Modi is one bold CM who demolished any structure that came in the way of development, including places of worship of any community - as a result we do have a state to boast about.

    Public must cooperate with the authorities if they really want the development to happen in Karnataka. I would say those who oppose demolition of required structures are pushing the nation towards Stone Age while accumulating modern amenities in their houses.

    Udupi and Mangalore have been hailed as educational hub of India and the people of these twin districts are being respected as most just and literate. This is the testing time for our literacy and understanding of the law and our own constitution. Religious fanatics from all communities are trying their best to encash this opportunity and they are eagerly waiting to fish in the trouble water. Whatever is the SC/DC move it is in the larger interest of our society and we as responsible citizens must co operate with the district administration in implementing the SC order. Then only we can be hailed as just and literate lot.

    We have to agree with the views of the D.C. who is only doing what is right. Public do not have any rights to put any structures without the necessary permits. It is my hope that the enlightened people of Mangalore will cooperate with The District Authorities and make the D.C.'s task easy.

    However before pulling down illegal structures The D.C. will do well to ensure that the Mangalore City Corporation takes up the task of road repairs which are in a deplorable condition. In this context I invite the D.C. or his authorized people to visit the Coelho Lane, S.L.Mathias Road, Britto Lane, Storruck Road and Bishop Victor Road and several others roads and get convinced that these roads need urgent attention.

    Good beginning. While illiterate and the conservatives will fight against the Supreme Court order, we need to understand that without the cooperation of people no nation can develop. May be against the wish of many, we are already in the ship of Industrialization. We sail or sink. Our religious leaders can really contribute tremendously by instructing the masses. Should we leave to political goondas, they will destroy what we have build so far.

    One of our visionary leaders was Dr. Abdul Kalam, our former President. Even though Nagesh Nayak will have his private and personal opinion it's worth having a glance at www.abdulkalam.com, to see how he inspires thousands and invites us to build India and make it a great nation.
