The CBI has prima facie found that Jabbar was murdered because of persisting political enmity between the activists of Congress and CPM parties. It has named Moidin Kunhi alias Moinu, resident of Badria Quarters in Badiyadka Melinapete, his brother, Ashraf from Adyanadka Punji Moodambail, Abdul Razack from Katukukke, Abdul Aziz from Paivalike, Ummer Farooq from Subbaiahkatte, Ravi Pachchambala from Mangalpady, Radhakrishnan from Paivalike, Abdul Basheer from Badoor, K Gopal alias Rajagopal from Paivalike, Mahesh from Paivalike Meenjar Kadike, Yashwant Kumar from Paivalike, P Shabbir, a resident of Perla, K Sudhkar Master, who was CPM Kumble area secretary, and Abdulla Kunhi, member of CPM local committee.

Sudhakar Master has been accused of hatching a conspiracy to eliminate Jabbar with the help of hired killers. The name of Bapunhi, which was found in the case registered by the policemen in the past, has been left out from the list of accused.

Abdul Jabbar, who was going to his home in a car on the night of November 3, 2009, was stopped by a gang of miscreants near Ukkinadka. The assailants, who came in another car, were armed with lethal weapons and by using which, they seriously wounded Jabbar. By the time Jabbar was taken to a private hospital in Kasargod, he had breathed his last. Dissatisfied with the progress of the police investigation, Jabbar’s father, Hasainar, had approached the High Court with a request to hand over the investigation to the CBI, which was considered favourably by the court.
