Bangalore: Disqualification Bid Against Varthur Prakash – Hearing Today

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Nov 4: Two voters from Kolar constituency have petitioned the assembly speaker, K G Bopaiah, seeking disqualification of independent MLA, Varthur Prakash, under the anti-defection law.

They have sought the disqualification of Prakash on the line of the other five independents. Prakash, alerted by the fate of the other five independents, had changed his mind and supported the government during the trust vote.

The complainants have stated that Varthur Prakash, driven by lust for power, has been repeatedly changing his political loyalties, giving rise to confusions. His shifting allegiance is tantamount to betrayal of the voters of his constituency, they have alleged.

K Ramachandra and Ramesh, voters hailing from Marandahalli in Kolar assembly constituency, met the speaker and handed over the complaint. The speaker, who scrutinized the complaints, has fixed Thursday November 4 for hearing.

Advocates, Y S Sadashiva Reddy and Somashekhar Reddy are appearing for the petitioners.
