Udupi: Increasing Crime Due to Lack of Awareness – Raghupati Bhat

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 4: Local MLA, Raghupati Bhat, expressed the opinion that lack of awareness of law was the reason behind many crimes and accidents. He was speaking after inaugurating the legal awareness programme organized for the students on Wednesday November 3 at Vaikuntha Baliga Law College here.

“Legal awareness is very important for today’s youth. Because of lack of proper guidance and influence of peers, they sometimes behave in a way that is detrimental to the interests of the society.  The report that youth aged between 18 and 35 years are involved in most of the crime cases in the country is shocking,” he said. He felt that there is a need to increase the number of programmes aimed at imparting legal knowledge to today’s youth.

Several lectures on subjects like ‘human rights and right to information’, ‘ragging and cyber crime’ etc., were delivered later by experts in these subjects. Details of various opportunities available for the law graduates were also provided to the participants.
