Kendra, Kankanady, here has been chosen for ‘Scientist of the Year 2010’ award.

He has been selected for the honour by National Environmental Science (NESA), New Delhi based on his achievement in research, teaching and extension in the field of fisheries science.

Dr Rajesh will receive the prestigious award at the 23rd international conference of the NESA academy to be held at Jamia Hamdard University New Delhi from December 27 to 29.

He bagged the University gold medal for his PhD research in aquaculture from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore in 2002. He is associated from past 13 years with various research and extension projects in various capacities funded by different agencies. To his credit, he has more than 50 scientific research articles published in national and international journals.

At present he is organizing training programmes for the officers of developmental departments, extension personnel of NGO’s. He is also involved in transferring approved scientific technologies of the universities through ‘On farm testing’ and front line demonstrations in farmers’ fields of Dakshina Kannada for their upliftment.
