Mangalore, Nov 5: Almost all places in Sullia, Puttur and Karkala taluks got heavy rains on Thursday November 4 afternoon.

All these places and also Bantwal taluk experienced cloudy weather since morning. Rains visited Puttur, Kadaba, Uppinangady and Subrahmanya and other places at around 4 pm. In Karkala taluk, rains were accompanied by lightning.

Some places in Beltangady and Bantwal taluks received light showers on Wednesday. The city and surrounding places were covered with dark clouds in the evening and some rains were received at night. Otherwise, these places enjoyed a sunny day. Places like Petri and Kokkarne in Udupi district, which are closer to Western Ghats, received some rains.

North east monsoon is already causing havoc in Chitradurga and nearby districts. The meteorological department, which has noticed building of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal, expects cyclone to hit southern parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh by November 7. “There is a possibility of it effecting parts of the state, where heavy rains may occur,’ the department warned through a communiqué.
