Bantwal: Policemen Nab Man Accused of Committing Murder at Arbigudde

Bantwal, Nov 5: In connection with the recovery of the body of a woman named Maimoona, a resident of Kolnad Manchi, from a house in Arbigudde in B Casba village on October 23, the policemen have arrested the accused. He was produced in the court on November 4, upon which, he was remanded to police custody.


Maimoona, who owned a house in Aribigudde, had sold it a few months ago, and had gone to stay with her parents. The buyers of the house were not staying in the house. Her husband works in a foreign country. The accused, G Mohammed (43), son of the late Moidu Kunhi from Tenkakarandoor village in Beltangady taluk, got acquainted to her and sexually exploited her since about a year, the policemen said, on the basis of the interrogation of the accused.

On October 23, the accused had invited the woman to the house sold by her. After having sex, the lady demanded a hefty sum to be able to treat her father. When the accused refused to pay more than Rs 200, she threatened to file complaint with the policemen. Mohammed, who was taken aback by this threat, asphyxiated her by tying her veil around her neck, the policemen explained. He had later absconded.

Circle inspector of police, K Nanjunde Gowda, town sub-inspector of police, Vivekanand, and other personnel were involved with the investigation.
