Football Delhi signs deal with PSPB as associate sponsor for women's league


New Delhi, Aug 12 (IANS): Saji Prabhakaran, president, Football Delhi on Friday announced a partnership with Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) for the Football Delhi Women's League 2022/23.

PSPB has been signed as associate sponsor for the FD Women's Premier League and FD Women's Championship Divisions.

The Football Delhi Women's Premier League will be launched on August 18 with nine teams competing in a double round-robin format with a total of 72 matches. The Football Delhi Women's Championship with 15 participating teams will commence on August 25.

On the occasion, member secretary Vivek Kumar on behalf of the PSPB said, "PSPB continues its endeavours in fuelling energy in sports and specially promotion of women participation in sport. I wish the participants all the very best."

Prabhakaran said: "PSPB has done exceptional work in promoting sports in India and it is very encouraging for all of us in Delhi that PSPB is coming forward to support our women's league as this partnership will immensely help us further grow women's football in Delhi and engage more girls in football."

He added, "Women's league in Delhi is growing from strength to strength each season and PSPB must be complimented for deciding to support women's football in Delhi."

Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) was established in June, 1979 and has continued to promote sport across India since then. Football Delhi aims to benefit from this collaboration aligning with PSPBs mission to encourage, develop, co-ordinate and organise various sports and games.
