Mangalore, Aug 16: It is gathered that the police have registered cases against Sharan Pumpwell, convener of Bajrang Dal, and 23 people allegedly having affiliation this outfit, in connection with the attack by ‘moral police’ on a birthday party. The party was in progress at a farm house in Ullal near here on Sunday August 14, when the activists of Bajrang Dal launched an attack, it is said.

However, Pumpwell said he had no knowledge of the alleged attack. So far, no arrests have been made. It is said that during the raid, people were beaten up, and valuables including cash, were robbed. About 30 youngsters were enjoying the party when they were attacked all of a sudden, it is gathered. Those in the party were from rich families having political clout.
It is said that beer cans and ganja were available at the party.
Some of the youth in the party were admitted to hospitals, with injuries including bruises. These youth are angry that they were targeted by ruffians who beat them up and robbed their belongings, for no fault of theirs. They turned livid at the fact that the religious police took law to their hands. They also took strong umbrage at the fact that valuables like gold chains, laptops, and wallets containing cash and other items were snatched from the partying youngsters.
Allegedly, a car parked at the spot was also targeted by the infiltrators. The youth at the party ran helter-skelter at the sudden turn of events, and hid themselves to save themselves from the fury of the attackers, it is said.
