PM Takes Stock of Nuclear Safety


New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday took stock of India's nuclear disaster preparedness in the backdrop of Japan's nuclear plant leak following an earthquake and tsunami.

Manmohan Singh met the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) officials at his residence here and discussed new measures such as installing hi-tech radiation-measuring gadgets in 35 cities across India, including New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, official sources said.

He also reviewed the guidelines on nuclear and radiological disaster issued by the NDMA.
