Former Bridge Champion Robi Roy Dead


Kolkata, June 14 (PTI) Two-time Far East Bridge Championship winner Robi Roy passed away after a protracted illness at his residence here today.

Known as the "doyen" of bridge in the country, Roy, 80, is survived by his wife and a daughter.

Condoling Roy's death, joint secretary of Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East Bridge Federation of India, Debashis Roy said: "Roy's death is a great loss to the bridge fraternity of the country."

"His death has created a big void among the bridge players as well as bridge in India which would be difficult to fill. I convey my sincere condolence to the bereaved family."

Roy began his career way back in 1952 and continued till 1993.
