Udupi, Dec 22: A fishing boat named Sri Narayana - II, owned by Kadekaru Raksha, met with an unfortunate incident while deep-sea fishing around 26 nautical miles from Malpe fishing port on December 19. The boat, which set sail from Malpe port on the night of December 12, encountered an object that struck its base early in the morning. This impact resulted in a significant breach in the boat, causing water to rapidly enter.

Tandela, the captain of Sri Narayana - II, promptly alerted nearby fishing boats about the situation. The crew of Sri Mookambika Anugraha responded swiftly, attempting to prevent the sinking vessel from succumbing to the violent sea conditions. Unfortunately, their efforts proved unsuccessful, and by 8 am, the boat had completely sunk.

In a display of solidarity among the fishing community, all eight fishermen aboard the sunken boat were successfully rescued by the crew of Sri Mookambika Anugraha. The rescued fishermen were safely transported to the shore. The estimated loss from this unfortunate incident is valued at Rs 18 lac.
