Puttur, Jun 27: St Philomena College organized a programme in connection with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event took place on June 26 at the PG Seminar Hall of St Philomena College, Puttur.

Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of St Philomena College, administered oath to the members of the staff. He said, “Youth are the backbone of any nation. Inopportunely, many are falling prey to drug abuse, leading to various diseases, which in turn hampers the country’s economy and development.

"Therefore, teachers bear a key responsibility in fostering awareness among youth, neighbours, and society to build a strong nation. Their role extends beyond education, they are mentors and role models. By actively engaging in awareness campaigns and promoting positive values, teachers can shape informed, responsible citizens who contribute to the nation’s strength and unity," he said.

Geethapoornima rendered prayer. Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar, vice principal welcomed. Dr Malini K, IQAC coordinator proposed a vote of thanks.

Faculty members of the college participated in the programme.
