Mangaluru, Jan 21: St Agnes School CBSE observed the feast of its patron saint, St Agnes, on January 20 in the school auditorium, marking the occasion with prayerful reflection and vibrant celebrations. The gathering reflected a spirit of unity, gratitude, and reverence as students, staff, and members of the school community came together to commemorate the life and legacy of their patroness.

St Agnes stands as an enduring symbol of unwavering faith, moral strength, and spiritual courage. Born into an affluent Roman household in the early fourth century, she chose devotion and integrity over comfort and conformity. Her fearless adherence to her beliefs, even unto martyrdom at the young age of thirteen, continues to inspire hearts and minds, guiding generations toward steadfast values and principled living.

Inspired by the life and values of the patron saint, the celebration unfolded through a thoughtfully structured programme that blended prayer, reflection, and joyful expression. Following the solemn prayer service, which concluded with a graceful prayer dance, the programme transitioned into a vibrant phase of celebration.

The welcome dance presented by the students set an energetic yet dignified tone for the occasion, symbolising joy, unity, and gratitude. This was followed by the welcome address, during which the chief guest of the programme, Tr Kirti, an in-house teacher known for her dedication and committed service to the institution, was accorded a floral welcome by the vice principal, Sr Meena Fernandes, as a mark of respect and appreciation. The welcome address formally received the gathering and highlighted the significance of the school feast.

The programme then unfolded through a series of value-based presentations that echoed the life and message of St Agnes. A thoughtfully choreographed dance depicted the virtues that can be imbibed from her life, with emphasis on courage, purity of heart, faith, and moral strength. This was followed by a drama on the theme of ‘Reflection,’ which encouraged the audience to introspect on personal values, choices, and responsibilities.

The celebration reached a meaningful milestone with the address by the chief guest. In her speech, Kirti reflected on the inspiring life of St Agnes, drawing attention to her tender age at the time of martyrdom and the extraordinary strength of character she displayed. She spoke at length on virtues such as purity, humility, courage and unwavering faith, urging students to imbibe these timeless values in their daily lives. Her address served as a source of moral guidance and inspiration for the young Agnesians.

Adding a celebratory note to the occasion, students presented a melodious wishing song that filled the auditorium with joy and harmony. The celebration concluded with the vote of thanks.

The feast of St Agnes served as a meaningful reminder of faith, purity, courage, and moral integrity, leaving a deep and lasting impact on the school community and strengthening the collective resolve to live by the ideals embodied by the patron saint.
