Dubai, Sep 23: KONKAN BELLS, Belthangady Varado association in UAE celebrated the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the first anniversary on Friday, 21th September at Fortune plaza Hotel Al Ghuises with great fervor. Over 250 members from all 10 parishes of Belthangady varado marching towards the Mother Mary’s grotto prepared by Joel Vas/Derril Furtado and group which added festive feel to the celebration. The traditional celebration commenced with hymns, prayer, gospel reading by Fr. James. The corn was blessed and the statue of Infant Mary was showered with flowers amidst the singing of the traditional Konkani hymn “SAKKAD SANGATA MELYAM” and “MORIYYEK HOGOLSIYAN’. “Novem” was then distributed to all those who were present.
The main Patron of Konkan Bells Belthangady Association, Walter Periera, owner of Rapid Freight Systems and his wife Lethicia Periera were facilitated by Fr. James during the function.
Rohith & Roshni a well-known compere duo took charge of the program and passionately recounted the old memories back home of monthi fest celebrations.
Konkan Bells President Remi D’Souza welcomed all the guests including Guests of honor Fr James, Fr Maxwil and Fr Fredrick Monteiro, Dayan D’Souza of Daiji Dubai and all the people who gathered there.
On this special occasion Jeevan Vas who hails from Ujire parish which belongs to Belthangady Varado was honored for his great efforts to make a tremendous entry in Gulf Voice Of Mangalore’s Semifinals and all members wished for his success in future ventures.
Various spot games were efficiently conducted for kids and adults. A traditional vegetarian meal and vorn was served to all by Fortune Plaza hotel followed by variety entertainment by Konkan Bells members who presented the Hindi Mix dances, comedy skits etc.
The program got concluded by a game of housie-housie and vote of thanks by Sports and Cultural Secretary Sunil Rodrigues.
