Kuwait, Feb 12: The new executive committee of Kuwait Kannada Koota for 2013 started its activities for the year with a bang on variety entertainment program. The program of devotional and patriotic music and a comedy drama was held at the Indian Community School Khaitan.
After the beautiful rendition of the invocation song by Vasantha Ashok Kumar and Madhavi Kulkarni the activities of the evening were flagged off by lighting the traditional lamp by the members of the executive committee (Dinesh R, Vijayakumara Kairangala, Ramesh P, Ramesh Chikkanna) and their spouses.
Dinesh R, the president of the Koota welcomed the gathering. The musical program was presented by the invited Hindustani musician Vidwaan Vaagish Bhatt of Bangalore. His impeccable diction and beautiful voice mesmerized the audience. He was ably supported on Sitar by Vidwan Srinivasan, on Tabla by Vidwan Sudatta and Srinath.
The second part of the program was a comedy play titled Mooru Muttu (Three pearls) presented by visiting troupe Roopakala of Kundapura, Karnataka. The drama is a hugely successful comedy with around 883 shows so far all over the world.
The Kuwait Kannada Koota members Manjeshwar Mohandas Kamath, Srinivas Prabhu and Suresh Neramballi surprised the audience with their acting abilities with training of less than two days by participating in the drama in some important roles.
Shailaja Hombali, Veena Kulkarni and Ananth Mangalagi compered the programme. Ramesh P, the general secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
