Mangalore, Jan 7: The inter-collegiate festival, Agno Fest 2006, was inaugurated at St Agnes College Auditorium on Friday. The event was inaugurated by Sarosh Institute of Hotel Administration principal Matharani Mathias.
Mathias expressed that inter-collegiate competition as a wonderful change from the regular theory and practical classes. It also provides a platform for competition and symbolises a get-together, she explained.
By organising such programmes, students will learn to handle pressure, deadline and criticism, she said.
Principal Sr M Carmel Rita AC said that it is not enough if the students sit in the classes and learn lessons. "If students have to improve, then they have to participate in the extra-curricular activities and co-curricular activities in and out of the college," she said.
She also congratulated all the participants who participated in the event and took up the challenge. Everyone is blessed with talent and students should make use of it to grow in life, she said.
She also said that the students should study and have perseverance.
Staff convener Sr M Prem D'Souza AC and others were present on the occasion.
Programmes like Apteenz (talented teenager), Brave, Criment (crisis management), Youtist (young scientist), Espersona (best CEO) and Biz-Wiz (quiz) were the events held on Friday. On Saturday, apart from the finals of the preliminary, events like Motock (mock stock) and Spectacle (ethnic show) will be held.
