Udupi, Jan 9: At the Guruvandana programme organised by Nippon Ayurveda School, Tokyo director Dr U K Krishna to offer reverential tributes to his teachers at Ammanni Ramanna Shetty Memorial Hall on Sunday Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade said that medical practitioners in India as well as the public are neglecting the ancient medical practices of the Indian Systems of Medicine, while other countries are welcoming the system.
Heggade stated that Dr Krishna who is a pioneer in taking Ayurveda to Japan, has done a great job by making Ayurveda popular among the Japanese. Pejavar math seer Vishweshateertha Swami said that in a modernised society, people are forgetting to respect their parents. This should not happen, as showing respect to parents and friends is deeply rooted in our culture and people should follow it, he said.
Palimar math's Vidyadheeshateertha Swamiji, Institute of Traditional Oriental Medicine, Japan, director Dr Ben Hatai, Consultant Anaesthesiologist USA and Indus Valley Ayurveda Centre, Mysore president Dr Talavane Krishna were present.
Eighteen teachers of Dr Krishna U P who had taught him and influenced him from the elementary school to post-graduate level were felicitated.
