Is Congress veteran Jaffer Sharief knocking on JD(S) door ?

Bangalore, Mar 13: In what may come as a blow to the state Congress, according to highly placed sources close to JD(S) said daijiworld that former union minister C K Jaffer Sharief has been holding several rounds of talks with JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda expressing his interest to join the party. However, Congress in a bid to retain the senior party member is trying to woo him, offering the post of Saudi Arabia’s ambassador.

The move which could be termed as major setback ahead of general elections, came as soon as the party decided to drop him from the fray replacing Rizwan Arshad from Bangalore Central constituency. Sources say that earlier, the former union minister was trying hard to get the ticket to contest elections. The Congress party which this time altering its strategy in issuing the ticket, choosing youth over veterans, came to the decision to drop Sharief, which evoked his anger and led him to contemplate severing of ties with the Congress.

Besides these, sources say that it is habitual for the senior party member to play a threatening game as the party goes to elections, and thereby put undue pressure on the high command to accept their demands. It is said that Sharief, who earlier clarified his stand to join JD(S) with Congress national leaders, is backing out. This contradictory move was revealed by him after he was offered the post of ambassador to Saudi Arabia by the party.

Amidst these developments, JD(S) has considered Jaffer’s contentions seriously and the party is likely to come out with its decision within a day or two, sources confirmed.

N.M, MangaloreThursday, March 13, 2014 - lets not deviate from the main topic and get int the nitty gritty of the place name - I am as much a son of the soil as you would per se portray yourself, if you see the comments here, and that is what needs to be discussed - my comments are spot on - how you call or name your town or city is superficial, and for the places you have named (Strangely none Indian) rest assured I have been there ... so don't get petty, the country needs to move on, I rarely comment and when I do I make a point that many are unaware off - my shortened name says it all - my parentage has links to my openly putting on record as required by diajji Native Place / Place of Residence - Tek in my name stands for my parental home and the surname my clan and heritage ... none can question that ... you call yourself NM - meaning No Mad ????????

Jaffar Shariff was not Indira Gandhi's Car Driver, but he was Nijalingappa's Car Driver. Nijalingappa brought him into Politics. But later on he ditched his mentor Nijalingappa's Syndicate and joined Indicate of Indira Gandhi .

this man had enough opportunities in congress and matured there, but never attain maturity to nurture new blood or new leaders where he grew. it will be better to congress to neglect these type of people and march forward, they may suffer some loses, but it will be temporary and in future no one will dare to act as sharief.

In case this 80 year old Mr. Jaffer Sharief joins JDS, then the name of that party should be changed as "Mudi Makkala Party". Mr. Deve Gowda will get a companion of his age so that they can discuss about their retirement plan at the Lok Sabha. Shameless people.

Whole Congress party has become of small small KABBADI teams. Each team is pulling others legs.

In Mangalore 2 teams. Moily's team and Poojary's team.

In Bangalore at least 10 teams are there.

Keep watching and enjoy the Kabbadi tournaments till April 17th. After April 17th, you can enjoy IPL Tournaments.

    My dear congis,

You speak a lot about RESPECT TO SENIOR LEADERS, when it comes to BJP. Can you people comment on the above matter?

I know Rizwan is a youth leader and that is why he got ticket. It does not mean Congress neglected Jaffer Sharief.

Similarly Modi is a youth icon and has been named as PM candidate of BJP. Our intention is not to ignore or sideline Advaniji.

The difference between your party and our party is that, Sharief is knocking JDS door now, forgetting his decades old relationship with congress party, where as Advaniji is still with BJP. Advani may retire from politics, but will never knock the door of congress, jds or any other party.

Wah Wah - One time Tonga wala, turned driver of former CM Nijalingapppa, now aging to be an Ambassador - a post people have to get either (1) pass the tough competitive IFS exams to get or have exceptional credentials. Jaffer Shereif is an opportunist and a seasoned operator - he got into the good books of Indira Ghandhi by snitching (Being the driver of Nijalingappa he was privy to a lot of insider information), his threat to quit should not be taken seriously, what a joke Congress fields a luminary like Nilkeni in one part of Bangalore and is bullied into giving a seat to a 80 year "has been" -

Tekvarma ,With due respect Our city is officially known as Mangalore or Mangaluru, please dont try to rechristen it to Manglapuram like most Keralites do. You dont just go to New York and try naming the city to Newyorkpuram just to suit your regional convenience.

But whenever i had a change to speak to Keralites...they ask You from Mangalpuram? How lame!

How will people from Cairo or Johannesburg feel if i go there and change the name of their city as per my convenience?
